FINANCIAL EDUCATION...
Financial Education within the Browning Community Development Corporation came about when a need was seen for basic financial education within our community. Through our classes we cover such topics as:
♦ Basic Budgeting
Do you have more month then money? Lets look at how the month consumes your money, and how you can have money left over at the end of the month. The Goal: Create a Livable Budget.
♦ Loan Basics
Where can you go to when the family is running tight on cash? Get a glimpse into the banker’s loan process and how you can open their wallets by having your banking backers. The Goal: Learn about the Lending System and Getting to Yes.
♦ Basic Savings
Size does matter when it comes to your savings account. The bigger your account the more interest you’ll earn. Also get simple ways to enhance your account. The Goal: Let your Money Work for You.
♦ Credit Card Basics
Pimp my Credit Card. Check out the latest and greatest new options and accessories and get a crash course on card maintenance, and ways to keep it tuned up and running smoothly. Lastly we will look at what you do in the event of a card high-jack. The Goal: Develop Responsible Credit Card Habits.
♦ Basic Banking
What are the final four of financial institutions? Get to know their best plays, possible trades and what they have to bring to the court. Find confidence in picking what institution will grow your money into a car, a home or a college education. The Goal: Feel Comfortable Choosing the One that is Right for You.
♦ Credit Report Basics
Understand the different features and how they accent each other. Know how to correct any blemishes that are mistakenly reported. Look at tips on creating, maintaining, and establishing good credit. Also talk about protecting your credit and steps against Identity Theft. The Goal: Make the Ugly Process of a Credit Report a Little Easier on the Eyes.
♦ Avoid the Robber with a Smile
Could the person across the table be dipping too far into your wallet? Learn about the fine print and how to protect yourself. What are the security systems you can put in place to avoid this robber. The Goal: Keep Cash on Hand Don’t Give it to the Man.
We also offer a course that is 12 hours long with a general overview of each of the topics.
